Adelaide Oval redevelopment gets the go ahead

Members of the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) on May 2  voted in favour of the proposal to amend the Association’s constitution to allow a joint venture with the South Australian Football League (SANFL) and the redevelopment of Adelaide Oval.

Pitcher Partners as auditors of SACA played a key role acting as independent scrutineers to ensure the integrity of the voting process.

The vote was passed with an 80% ‘yes’ to the redevelopment.

Andrew Faulkner, Principal of Audit and Assurance at Pitcher Partners Adelaide highlights that this is a “historical event in South Australia and for the City of Adelaide allowing the $535 million redevelopment of Adelaide Oval into a 50,000 seat stadium, that will bring AFL football and international sport and entertainment to the heart of Adelaide”.

The renewed oval is the driving force behind developing Adelaide’s new entertainment precinct in the form of a redeveloped Riverside Precinct.

Andrew points out that the success of the Riverside Precinct redevelopment relies on the collaboration between the South Australian Government, Adelaide City Council and private investors “who will contribute to a $1 billion transformation of the hub”.

The redevelopment includes the expansion of the Adelaide Convention Centre, potential development of SkyCity Casino and an entertainment strip of restaurants and bars.
